“I’ve had Bernard as my teacher for Politics and IR module at CANDI in 2011-2012. Many of my classmates would agree that Bernard has inspired all of us to succeed by enabling us in gaining a better perspective of the subjects he teaches. He spreads this because of his underlying passion in teaching, in wanting every student to be well. He puts valuable time and effort in to his students when many others wouldn't. He is honest, caring and always up for a quick catch up 5 yrs down the line”.

“It's almost impossible to explain how wonderful Bernard is in 500 characters but I will try. When I started my journey into Philosophy I didn't really know what it was, he created a fun and inviting learning environment where I felt comfortable enough to ask questions as well as input ideas. He is extremely encouraging, as when I started I had 0 confidence in my abilities but as the year ensued my grades and confidence were constantly increasing”.

"Bernard is the best teacher I have ever come across, and I can wholeheartedly say that I would not have the confidence, knowledge or skills behind me at University without Bernard's unwavering help. His passion for education and knowledge is completely infectious. The access course is one of the hardest higher forms of education, if it had not been for Bernard's devotion to his students and hands on approach I would certainly not have excelled as I have”.

“Bernard taught me that studying can be interesting and that politics is not something abstract but something that is relevant to day to day life. Like in all colleges and universities, some of the lecturers are just going through the motions and don't seem to want to be there. In contrast, Bernard were always passionate about what he taught and was keen for us to learn at much as possible”.

“Bernard is a wonderful teacher. He is passionate about both the subjects he teaches and the pupils he teaches. This means he is intelligent, thoughtful and engaging about the subject matters at hand, while also being tuned into the needs of the pupils he is teaching. His enthusiasm across the board is infectious. Any pupil taught by Bernard will have a patient, intelligent, engaging and understanding teacher, who is keen above all else to make sure their needs are met”.

“Bernard was my tutor and politics teacher from September 2015 until July 2016. His dedication, knowledge and ability to articulate difficult theories/ideas are second to none. Although overwhelmed by the workload at the beginning of the year the dedication shown by Bernard imbued me with a confidence in my academic ability I did not posses before being his student. I would recommend Bernard as a wonderful teacher/lecturer who i'm certain has the abilities to teach students of varying abilities”.

“Bernard was my teacher from September 2015 until June 2016 and within that time he was nothing but excellent. All of his classes were delivered in a passionate and informative manner and he was always helpful, clear, knowledgeable and extremely patient. He is without a doubt, the best teacher I have had and without him being my tutor I am sure that I would not have done as well as I did. It was an absolute pleasure to of had Bernard as a teacher and I cannot recommend him enough”

“I was a mentee under Bernard while attending my PGCE year and I couldn't have asked for a better mentor. Bernard is calm and encouraging, making anyone feel valued and motivated. I was able to relate to Bernard on a number of topics which really helped me through the year. Bernard is flexible and can adapt to individuals very quickly, making them feel comfortable. His lessons are great fun and the passion is evident from the very beginning”!

“Bernard was my Philosophy teacher last year and is an absolutely inspirational teacher; he is passionate, encouraging and engaging and I found every lesson fascinating. He is also such a kind person, and puts so much effort into every individual. He manages to get everybody involved in discussions and takes every question, doubt or worry seriously. In a practical sense, he helped me invaluably with essay writing, both with planning and composition. Highly recommended”.

“In 2015, I took an access course where Bernard was my rout subject tutor at city and Islington college. As I resumed education after a decade long gap, I found it difficult to cope with all the challenges that I faced at the beginning. I got to a point where no longer I had the confidence to continue. At this point, Bernard inspired me to believe in success, determine for success and lead to success. He did it by making the class easy to learn, exciting to be productive and fun to be part of.”

“A really good teacher who is effective at making the complex easily understood”.

“Bernard is a very knowledgeable and helpful teacher, linked with a passion for education makes him a jewel of a teacher”

“Bernard is an outstanding teacher and really pushed me to do my best in my academic learning. It was a pleasure having him as a teacher over the last year. I wish him all the best

“Bernard was an all round great teacher. His experience, knowledge and passion for the subject shone through and made our learning that much better. Good luck with your future endeavours Bernard”!

“Bernard is an inspiring teacher who is obviously deeply passionate about his subject and loves learning. He takes a genuine interest in his students and is always willing to give extra help and constructive feedback to those who are putting in the effort (regardless of the grades achieved). Lessons were always fascinating, using a great range of resources, and he managed to get everyone involved (no mean feat!) with a variety of exercises. Being in Bernard's class was a pleasure and an honour”

“Bernard taught me a subject I had no interest in and now I have a Bachelors degree in it! His enthusiasm and clarity of what he was teaching made learning so much fun. He helped me whenever I got frustrated and encouraged me to finish even when I practically gave up. He's a wonderful teacher that any student would be lucky to have”!

“Bernard taught me Access to HE Politics and IR last year after a relatively long hiatus from education. Probably the most likeable and knowledgeable teacher I have ever had, Bernard helped me get back into the swing of things while also encouraging and challenging me. A teacher who fully understands that patience and recognition of a person's strengths is the best way to nurture their potential. I now study Politics and Sociology at a Russell Group university. Brilliant teacher”.

“Among the best teachers I have witnessed. Full of banter and knowledge, extremely likeable and a great mentor. Gets the most out of those who are struggling and empathises with them. He taught me Access to HE politics and although I am intelligent, I had many demons that I wouldn't have overcome without his help. I have been taught by many good teachers, bad teachers, etc. and i can honestly say, none of them have anything on Bernard”.

“Tutor for the access to humanities and social science course. Explaination of subject as well as guidance through the course was top knotch. His knowledge of the subject is outstanding and is explained in a way which makes it clear and easy to follow”

“Bernard Tannett was my course tutor for Access to HE Humanities and Social Science for which I gained 42D, 12M and 6P. I am now an Undergrad at University College London. Bernard’s enthusiasm and knowledge of the subjects he teaches is highly conducive to learning. He is patient; explaining lucidly and monitoring progress. He is perceptive; encouraging lively debate yet skilfully steering away disruption. He motivates and nurtures a student’s potential. An excellent teacher. Highly recommended”.

“Bernard Tannett is a unique teacher. He is helpful and very knowledgeable in the subject I was being taught. There was never a stage where I left the classroom confused, and this is solely down to the level of clarity provided during teaching hours. The attention and desire to teach is outstanding, in which he would provide essential reading for those who wanted it. In conclusion, an excellent all round teacher, and all colleges would benefit from him”.

“Bernard has been a fantastic professor this year, always very supportive and giving up his extra time to help students with their work. One of the best teachers I've actually ever had, very down to earth. I wish him the best in the future”.

“Bernard was a large part of the reason I chose this college.
His passion for the subject was very clear in the interview. He is also a good motivator and his patience and understanding compliment his knowledge of the subject making Bernard a great coach as well as teacher”.
